"For Unto Us A Child is Born"(click on this link)
Listen along as Mark himself comforts us by sharing his hope in Christ our Lord and Savior. Highlighting the promises of eternal life given through the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus the Christ, Mark through personal recollections reminds us that "God is faithful and God is true".

"Impressed by his intelligence and kindness"

I never met Mark Leon, but he was on a zoning and review committee that I spoke before and I was impressed by his intelligence and kindness. He died far too young. And his death leaves a void because most of his fellow committee members were self-serving twits.

"Mark really cared"

Hi all/Michelle,

Upon my return I learned of Mark's untimely death. He was a dedicated
supported of all avenues to provide affordable housing, as you know. Here
are a few words to share.

Through San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity, Mark went on
Habitour--visited homes under construction, saw the site of our future
build, and then sat in the kitchen with one of the Habitat families to learn
of the life-changing difference that homeownership made for them. Mark
really cared. He put his passions into action, and we will sorely miss him.

Thanks,
Sonja Yates

“saint” Mark...

Christine,

We received the heartbreaking news of Mark’s passing this noon and want to extend our grief at the loss of your precious husband and father of your children. My last vision of “saint” Mark, he was smiling joyfully as you sang on the praise team with the choir. He was constantly beaming. God has called him home to rest and he waits for you.

With love, sorrow and joy,

Pat & Paul Kroll

"A Community Extraordinaire"

Mark Leon Passes Away
It is with both sadness and joy that a community extraordinaire, Mark Anthony Leon 48 years young, took his journey home to be with the Lord, on May 2, 2008. Mark received a liver transplant several years ago and has been battling health related issues for some time. At the time of his passing, he was in the intensive care unit at Huntington Hospital, with his family by his side.
Mark was a Christian, serving at New Hope Church in Eagle Rock, a public servant of the Pasadena community, a true pillar, a man of great character, a very loyal and kind friend. He loved his family and his community and served them well until the time of his death. He was employed by Northrop Grumman Space and Technology for 20 plus years. Last year he ran for a seat on the City Council, District 1, which was a life rewarding experience. Although he lost to his friend, Jackie Robinson, the people that crossed his path and the support he received was a true victory. Prior to running for a council seat, he served on the Pasadena City Planning Commission 2 terms, chairman last year, Transportation Commission, City Charter Reform Task Force (representative), Leadership Pasadena (graduate), Citizens Police Academy (graduate), Latino Heritage (board member & co-chair sponsorship, planning committee for the Latino Parade & Jamaica), and on the Pasadena Latino Forum as corresponding secretary.
Mark was also a very supportive father and husband and was very active in the education and activities of his children. He enjoyed watching David run track, Daniel play football and Diana in her softball games.
Mark lived in Pasadena, California and was highly respected and loved by everyone who came in contact with him. Mark is survived by his wife, Christine, and 3 children, David, a Senior at Polytechnic School, Daniel, an 8th grader at Chandler School, and Diana who is in 4th grade at Polytechnic School; and many other loving relative and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 80 W. Dayton, Pasadena, on Saturday, May 10 at 12:00 p.m.

"he was loved by many..."

Christine and Angelica,

Thank you for letting us know about Mark's funeral arrangements. We cannot attend but will be keeping your family in prayer at this difficult time. As stated below, "he was loved by many." I personally remember him as a kind, caring, and godly man. He left a priceless legacy to his children by his example as a father and a husband. This past weekend Bob and I watched our wedding video for the first time in at least 20 years. We were taken back in time by the happy faces of many who are no longer with us like Mark, Rudy, Fernando, Raul and many others. There was one part at the reception where Mark and Christine were dancing, their faces touching each other. We also have fond memories of our campout to Yosemite with the Leon clan just after Mark's transplant. He never complained about his discomfort but was more interested in the state of others.

Love,
Susie
